Thanksgiving in Vegas

The best odds in Las Vegas are at the buffet table. That's a tip from a pro. Another tip, if you take two plates to the king crab leg station, the lady there will fill both of them! Ditto for caviar. There are no buffet police.

The game that you have the least chance of winning is the "will my keycard work in the elevator before the doors close when someone on a higher floor summons it?" one.

Obviously, when you stay at the Hard Rock, you expect a lot of rock and roll memorabilia and it didn't disappoint. Actually, it did disappoint, in that it looked like Hot Topic on steroids. The elevator foyer on my floor had a larger-than-life (tho he still appeared smaller than me... hmmmm...) photo of Robert Plant on stage holding a white dove. It wasn't until my 7th trip to the elevators that I noticed someone had pasted a googly eye on the dove!! It stayed there the whole time, who knows how long it had been there! now going to make sure I have a bag of assorted size eyes with me at all times!

Saw the Neon Boneyard, where icons go to live their second life.

I feel really sorry for the people who are in charge of decorating the cactus garden for the holidays! Ouch!

There was so much to see that I'll be posting another pics blog, including.... and I'll warn you now, the creepiest thing I've ever seen in real life!!!!!

If you ever make it down here to Texas again. We are going to see the town with a bag of googly eyes and the intent to vandalize.

Creepiest thing...ok, now I am intrigued!

I'm going to make it the last picture of the blog just to give people every opportunity to not see something they can't unsee.

I figure if I can't unsee it though, with my own eyeballs, I might as well share the picture with all you fine people!

Thanks for sharing. I've been to Vegas probably half a dozen times and have never even thought to go to the Neon Boneyard.
Maybe they use an extension thingy to put the lights on the cacti.

I'd never heard about it until recently, it's definitely worth the trip. The building that houses the admissions building is also worth seeing. Not sure what it used to be but it's really arched!

I think they'd have to use some kind of tool.... otherwise they'd have to wear an armor suit!

I don't have much to say other than...great pics as usual, and I couldn't get passed the 'googly eye'. My brain stopped and all I could think of was "MadEye" Moody.

Can't wait to read the next post to see the creepiest thing you've ever seen.

I like the challenge of shooting pictures of neon after dark. Between the number of shots taken, and standing in the middle of the road for some of them, I about drove Mrs. C to wits end when doing so on the Route 66 trip.

That's weird!!

I only spotted your post in the recent posts list. Somehow, your blog became "unwatched" for me between now and your "woody" post.

Fabulous photos McTick, it's always a joy to read of and to see your travels......

Funnily enough, Vegas has never appealed to me, but that boneyard looks fascinating.

And I'm now waiting with baited breath......

Wake up and hold yer noses.........

Yeah, I'm no gambler so Vegas itself doesn't have all that much going for it in that respect. The food is good tho and the surrounding areas have their own kind of beauty... A pretty nice bridge over by the Hoover Dam too...

I don't know WFT happened, other than I didn't hit the stop watching link. I;m just glad I spotted this post, because given the sporadic nature of your posting, who know how long it would have been till it dawned on me that I'd not heard from you of late.

The googly eye was prob a security camera, lol. Have never been to Vegas (little there that appeals to me) but if I go the sign graveyard would be a visit for me for sure (nostalgia nut here) and yeah, buffets at casinos always the best game in the place ! Not sure about the elevator game, never run into that one. Supposed to be a nudist resort just a few blocks off the strip I would prob stay at if affordable, now THAT I could enjoy! Also, for some reason, the BIGGEST BBW convention is held there every year, in JULY !! Now, I love big girls, but can you imagine 1000's of BIG GIRLS, all sweating in the JULY heat ??? What were they thinking???

TicklePlease replies on 11/30/2018 5:46 pm:
Honestly I can't imagine anyone in the July heat of Vegas. If you're talking about the XLencePlus conventions, they have a few of them a year and yeah, the summer one is probably nothing but bikinis and pools!

The neon boneyard makes me a little sad . Here's a fab one in my neighborhood that sadly went dark this year when the restaurant went out of business...wish there was a way to save it.

TicklePlease replies on 11/30/2018 5:48 pm:
Maybe a group will step in to save it... it's a little bit sad when they get torn down with no chance at being salvaged. I was glad the boneyard signs were getting another chance at being seen.

That dove is creepy...but it's funny as hell that the little googly eye was never noticed and removed. It looks like it just noticed your cleavage.

It's great that someone came up with the idea for The Neon Boneyard, those old signs are part of Vegas' history.

I wonder if the person who has to decorate the cactus garden is the one who is deemed the biggest prick by their co workers. If it's a guy...might be the one with the biggest prick. Who gets to measure that to make sure the results are accurate?

Try to learn something about everything and everything about something.

All I know is if they ARE measuring for biggest prick, it's probably far FAR away from the garden!!

Oh, the neon bone cool! I've only been to Vegas once, in the middle of July...we walked 20 miles in one day. We went to the wax museum and wandered through the bigger hotels (we were at the Flamingo with the S L O W E S T elevators I have ever ever experienced). The food was great and we had a good time.

Creepiest thing ever...I'm waiting with bated breath to find out what that could be!!

Tweety pie...but no puddy twat.

Anyhow moving on.... hard to follow that one...that neon boneyard looks like fun.

I want the duck - how big is it?

Wasn't he adorable! He had to have been 12' tall at least... there was a moment I was reminded of the stay-puf marshmallow man from Ghostbusters... like he was going to start walking around and quacking!
