Gone more than Here

May was a whirlwind travel month... I was away more than I was home I think! Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Arkansas... can I say I'm so glad to be back in the Mid-Atlantic! As a transplanted southerner, it's hard to go back sometimes.

No Florida pics, we've seen enough of those. For those of you who appreciate history and interesting architecture, the Grove Park Inn near Asheville, NC has both!

Memphis has guitar-shaped swimming pools and bicycle-arches!

Little Rock has the submarine USS Razorback!

Hot Springs had incredible views of Lake DeSoto from my bedroom window!

Actual hot springs bubbling up!

A frightening look at how spa-vacations were at the turn of the last century!

You can go diamond mining in Murfreesboro AR! No I did not find a diamond. Just a lot of rocks.

Lastly, if you decide to go to a Greek Festival, it's not entirely inappropriate to slip in the back door right?

I'll catch a travel break for June but July will see me at a workshop near Boston for two weeks and September will bring a workcation to Hawaii!

Was gonna ask if you visited any of the breweries in Asheville, but based your extra photo I'm betting the answer was "Yes". Looks like you also enjoyed going down the hatch. As for your future travels, a workation in Hawaii? Oh, the humanity!

Asheville has some great breweries doesn't it?!!? The Biergarten itself could almost take an afternoon!

Wowser, you were a busy traveler!

Looks like a lot of fun and interesting places. Glad you get a break in June after all of that!

If it hadn't been pouring the whole time I was there, I'd have explored more of it... apparently their spa is in an underground grotto!

Great photos - I love the guitar pool and bicycle arch! Memphis and Nashville are on my travel bucket list; so much musical history to explore.

TicklePlease replies on 5/29/2018 1:22 am:
There was a lot of things to see in Memphis... lots of what I was calling "pocket gentrification." Just a few blocks of formerly industrial or empty neighborhoods here and there being restored with breweries and shops and restaurants.

Great new group of pictures, I always love the outdoor ones.

When you were on the submarine, did you encounter any seamen?

...yeah, I went there. You would have been surprised if I didn't.

Sounds fabulous but I'm not sure I would be able for so much travel at my age. Hawaii would be lovely.

There are some great pics there.

Yeah, Hawaii was just a "fall in the lap" kind of thing. The fickle hand of college football fate was kind to me this time!

Your Greek / backdoor joke was very inappropriate, but funny as hell!! A workaction to Hawaii? I hear Mt. Kilauea is nice this time of year.

As far as the travel goes, I am living through you for now.. I might get to Hawaii also, but sooner if I go. To help the with some Emergency stuff.

When you catch a break we need to meet for lunch...

Looking at you in the sub....I am reminded of that old corny joke, whats long and hard and full of seamen...I know just they way my mind tends to veer off.

Beer looks good Tickle BTW, craft beer is something I try but tend to find myself filling up at a rate of knots. Probably full of hops

Trust me darlin' if it wasn't for the family-with-kids touring the sub with us, we'd have MADE those jokes out loud!

I'm pretty immune to jet lag here.... perhaps a trip to Ireland to test it out on an international scale is in order!
