I Am Strong

I learned a long time ago to accept myself for who I am. With one exception.

Like many women, I wasn't ready to accept being grey-haired. It was easy to think it would make me look "old". After all, my Mother had beautiful, thick hair which she coloured until her passing at age seventy-five. On the other hand, I have relatives that turned prematurely grey in their early 20's

With everything else that has happened this past year, it gave me time to reflect and consider what's really important. I decided if someone was going to judge me solely on the colour of my hair, then they aren't the kind of people I want to know.

So, I went to the hairdresser, cut my hair short to get rid of all remnants of the old me. I couldn't be happier. The compliments have been an added delight and my bank account won't take the same hit

Does the colour of someone's hair, impact your attraction to them?

Good!! You have to do what makes you feel comfortable.

I found my first gray hair when I was 17.
17!!!!
I didn't even graduate high school yet!!
More grays came in my 20's and my friends LOVED to give me crap about it.
BUT..at some point we always turn a corner! When I hit my 30's and 40's that gray hair was very very appreciated and got me a lot of positive attention. Even better, my friends who tortured me about my gray hair have not had hair to turn gray since their 30's.

Thank you karma!!

Rather ironically, after my recent trip to the hairdresser, a male friend brought up the subject of grey-haired women and his lack of attraction to them. Eventually, I lost it, and told him bluntly, "Well guess what? I am now one of them!".

I started going grey as a teen, my Mom was more concerned about than me (she kept trying to pull them out when I wasn't looking, lol). Don't get me wrong I'm attracted to redheads and brunettes mostly but I like to see a person's natural colour and Grey is a very good look especially if it is backed by confidence and personality.

Honestly...I don't care what color a woman's hair is. I love them all. it comes down to the individual. I would never not date someone because of their hair color. I'm a fan of all of them.

Yes to a point. Grey doesn't bother me as long as the "style" fits the person. OTOH pink, purple and neon colors tend to make a person look less bright than their hair.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I love that MEME as it's so true, from one strong lady to another, we have been there and done that my friend. I stopped coloring my hair years ago, as I my grey make my hair look like it's frosted so I am good with that. I am glad your enjoying your new hair style. I hope your Monday is a great start to your week..

As far as your male friend who said he is not attracted to women with gray hair... I know it is much easier to be affected by one negative comment compare to 20 positive comments. But at the end of the day, you have to be happy with yourself.

One example....I started buzzing my hair about 8 years ago. I have a really nice thick head of salt and pepper hair but i just wanted to buzz it off and not have to fuss with it every day.

So a female friend if mine old me she is more attracted to me when my hair is longer. Short hair on men is not attractive. Honestly, it didn't affect me because I have no interest in her, I don't care if she is attracted to me so, it's her issue.

Don't let your friend male get to you if you are happy with your hair.

Don't le it worry you even a little. Be your self. When I was 21 my hair got thin. when I was 25 It was almost all gone, Now, I can get a hair cut in 2 min, I can jump in the shower dry off and with a whisk of a dry towel and 1 min it is dry, just no up keep. I know you say that is different, it may be but still some men fight for all just to keep a full head of hair. The color as long as it is well groomed just doesn't matter, Is good to look at. It just shows your strength and life experiences ..

The color of her hair is not a factor. Her comfort with herself and whether she has a positive or negative attitude plus intelligence is what attracts me.

If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin."

I always behave. Preferably not well.

I have been bald since I was 28. Tried to comb over and finally decided that was stupid, vain and looked really bad. After that I kept it cut short a few years then just started shaving my head. I figure anyone who judges you by your looks is not someone I want around me. They are shallow, with a low self esteem and trying to make themselves feel better about they're own failings. Lie life on your own terms and screw anyone who doesn't like it. And I think you are a mature, Sexy woman. Jack

I did the same about 10 years ago. I love it, and like you said, saved thousands (yes thousands) of dollars over the years. I get more compliments on it than I ever did when I was trying to cover the gray. Or even for that matter before I ever saw a single strand of gray. If someone doesn't like it, too bad for them, there's 20 more that DO like it.

I genuinely feel sad for those who have pre-defined acceptance criteria for who'd they'd like to meet (and possibly become intimate with).

To each, his/her own.

In my simple world, grey (or gray) hair can be very attractive and can re-inforce the image of a mature woman.

That being said, a very beautiful brunette, auburn, red, black, blonde, etc woman can also be very unattractive to me if she is not a good person on the inside.

Three years ago, my ex began to let her natural hair color grow out...I think she looks incredible with her long silver locks (and because I still have a great deal of respect for her as the person she is).

If your personal choice is to be natural, be confident in that decision (own it)...your beauty will show through!

I started getting grey hairs (on my head) when I was a Junior in High School.
At first I felt embarrased that I had them, and I would yank them out and pretend they never existed.
One day a girl, (who was very attractive, one of many high school crushes) was talking with her friend. The friend said to attractive girl, "You got a gray hair right here!" and was reaching up, as to remove it. Attractive girl said, "No, leave it there, I earned that gray hair!"

And that mundane, seemingly meaningless exchange stuck with me forever.

Since then, I have a thing for women with gray hair.
Silver hair is SO hot on women! I love it!!

First of all I think you are a strong woman that is my opinion and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. I have always felt that you thought you are a strong woman as well. I have to disagree with you on the gray hair. If I care about the color of your hair then I am to shallow and you should tell me to get lost. I just saw a friend of mine that I use to work with. She is mid to late 40's. She colored her hair light gray with pink strips through it. I love it and she looks good in it. Any man worth a damn would see a beautiful woman with a heart of gold, who is strong, and tells it like she see's it just as I do. I care about you (now it would bother me if we were dating and you didn't was it a pet peeve of mine) not the color of your hair. But if you're happier with it after you got it cute then that's the only thing that matters!!

I have been married three times and two of my wives have had to deal with the atrocities of breast cancer including being bald from chemo treatments for several months. But you want to know something? While their physical appearance may have been different they were still the same person I was married to. As for me, I have a little hair left, some is grey, some is still brown. I have some of the dreaded "turkey neck" working, and although I am 20 pounds lighter that I was a few years ago, my belly is a little bigger than it was then. As I have matured I have come to believe that it isn't the cover of the book that is important but the content beneath that cover. So for me, I don't care what is on the cover, I want to read the story.

I was in my early twenties when I first saw my gray hair and it did not bother me but over the years I dyed it and the last time I colored my hair it took two times to completely cover all the gray so after that I decided no more dye in my hair or color in it cuz it's just salt and pepper down and it's too much it won't take and my hair is natural body and curly and sometimes I look at other women with cute hairstyle and I wish my hair was like theirs but it is what it is but someone don't like me because my hair is gray they don't need to ask me out or be in their life
